A busy Newbury road will be closed at the end of April, while various utility services are connected to a nearby construction site.

West Berkshire Council is making an order that will see Kings Road closed to traffic, its one-way system revoked and waiting, as well as public and resident parking, prohibited.

A temporary two-way system will be implemented to allow residents access to their homes.

A diversion will be in place for all other vehicles.

The order, which will be in place from the junction with Boundary Road for a total of 70m along Kings Road, heading west, is expected to be enforced between April 25 and May 3.

The road runs from Hambridge Road down to Hectors Way and the entrance to Sainsbury's supermarket.
