Newbury runners get their kit off for charity calendar
However, that was the scene on a crisp autumn morning recently as the men, all members of Newbury Runners Club, got their kit off for a special calendar which is being sold to raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis UK.
The pictures of the men baring all, which were kept under wraps from fellow club members until recently, were taken by local photographer Stuart March following a parkrun event on the common.
The Newbury Runners Men pin-up calendar 2015 was unveiled at a quiz night at Park House School last week.
More than 50 of the calendars, which cost £10 each, have been sold in the first week alone.
The photoshoot was part of a fundraising campaign by two Newbury Runners Club members, Sue Bennett and Debbie Futcher.
The pair have been given the affectionate nickname ‘the toxic twins’ owing to their ability to sign up their fellow members to gruelling fundraising events.
Sue Bennett said: “The guys were all up for it and were very proud of the photos when they saw the end result last week.
"We are used to running alongside them but have never seen them in that state of undress before. It was all done very tastefully and is certainly not a tacky calendar. It’s been selling really well.”
Not content with simply organising the calendar shoot and quiz night, both women attempt to run three marathons on three consecutive weekends in April (Paris, Manchester and London).
The friends, who have so far raised around £1,500 for charity, hope to raise an additional £2,500 to take their total up to £4,000.

The men who bared all for charity are Paul Bennett, Dave Cheney, Matt Studart, Paul Stout (Stouty), Andy Tucker, Mark Hayes, Guy Watts, James Clutton, Andy Woodman, Ady Tuckwell, Will Burnett and Paul Scarlett.
