New-look Toby Carvery in Newbury will ‘encourage customers’
The Toby Carvery in Newbury is getting a facelift.
The pub and restaurant on the Robin Hood roundabout has applied to West Berkshire Council for permission to “ensure that the public house will remain a vibrant attraction within the community, while assisting to retain and attract new patrons”.
What that means is the application seeks listed building consent for modest alterations to the external grounds of the application site.
While the external alterations are minimal, the works, it says, have been carefully designed to ensure that they preserve and respect the historic fabric of the wider public house while providing patrons with a better customer experience to support the site’s viability.
The detail of that is that the applicant wants new festoon lights and posts to the patio area, rope lights under the eaves of the roof, new timber effect panelling to the entrance apex and new sleeper planters to clearly define the seating area.
No changes are proposed to the opening hours of the pub or garden area.
There will be no impact regarding odour as no cooking or food preparation will take place in the proposed patio area; the situation will remain as existing.
Likewise, the internal alterations will have no impact regarding odour.
