Newbury’s unsung heroes recognised at tonight's civic awards

NEWBURY’S annual civic awards will be presented tonight (Monday).
Newbury Town Council introduced the Newbury Town Civic Award 15 years ago and four years ago the Newbury Town Young Persons Civic Award was launched for anyone up to and including 25 years of age.
The awards, designed to recognise exceptional contribution individuals make to their communities on a voluntary basis, will be presented at the town council’s annual town meeting at the town hall tonight at 7pm, wit the public welcome to attend.
The current mayor of Newbury, Jeff Beck, previously said he hoped the awards would receive record numbers of nominations this year.
“We're looking for the unsung heroes in our community,” he said. “Everyone who is nominated is a winner because they have been recognised by their peers.“
