Newbury salon staff let rip for Febru-hairy

People at Charmaine’s Hair and Beauty in Hambridge Road, braved leg waxes and head colourings to raise funds as part of Sue Ryder’s Febru-hairy campaign.
The salon also boosted funds raised by selling cakes, holding a raffle and serving tea and coffee.
Charmaine Buckley, who opened the unisex salon in October said that it was a fantastic opportunity to raise money for a local charity and to get other local businesses involved in the charity event.
The salon has so far raised about £485 with money still coming in.
Ms Buckley said: "We thought it was a good idea to support a local charity.
"The customers were very supportive, they were really good.
"We were very pleased with the amount raised."
Febru-hairy, now in its third year, is a Sue Ryder’s light-hearted take on the month of February.
Vicky Smith, Newbury and Thatcham regional fundraiser for Sue Ryder, said: “Febru-hairy is a really fun way for people to get involved in raising much need money for Sue Ryder.
"Its great to have a Newbury business taking part as our community hospice services at the Charles Clore unit in West Berkshire Hospital so close by."
Sue Ryder provides expert care to people with long-term and end of life needs.
