Newbury school celebrates milestone

St Joseph's School recognises fifty years

A Newbury school celebrated 50 years recently by holding a special celebration mass and a weekend of festivities.

St Joseph’s School recognised 50 years at its Newport Road address on June 23 with a mass attended by local dignitaries, staff, parents and pupils past and present.

The school also held a Celebration Summer Fayre at the weekend, opened by Frank Rowbottom who was the first headteacher at the school 50 years ago.

A school spokesperson called it a special day and said: “We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone that played a part in [June’s] events and made it possible.”
