Trinity School holds 25th whole school annual Careers Fair
A Newbury school hosted almost 60 businesses, universities, colleges and training providers for its largest ever Careers Fair last week.
The Sports Hall at Trinity School was rife with activity last Thursday (February 6) as pupils engaged with a range of industry leaders — including newburytoday — at their 25th annual careers fair, organised by assistant head of sixth and careers coordinator, Diana Evans.
The theme of the whole school Personal, Social, Health, and Economic day was ‘Living in the Wider World.’
Assistant headteacher Sean Kenneally said: “Overall, the day was a great success with students making connections between their academic studies and potential careers.
“At Trinity, we promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive PSHE education programme that provides young people with the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live safe, healthy, and productive lives while reaching their full potential.”
In addition, Year 13 students participated in several key activities to support their transition into adult life, including a MasterChef Challenge which involved preparing a nutritious, balanced three-course meal for £10 and a self-defence class.
Year 11 pupils also honed their interview skills in separate mock workshops with local employers, while Year 10 pupils spent the day shadowing their parents and relatives at work.
Year 7 pupils also explored topics such as employment and taxes and heard a talk from author and inspirational speaker Jermaine Harris.
Year 12 students also met Mr Harris and took part in sessions on understanding payslips, budgeting, saving and staying safe when travelling abroad.
Year 8 pupils joined an Enterprise Challenge task with the Inspirational Learning Group, with the winning team progressing to the live national final at the Barbican later this year.
