Newbury school receives £1,000 for minibus funding
Pupils are celebrating a major contribution to their school minibus fund.
David Wilson Homes has donated £1,000 to the Friends of Shaw-cum-Donnington Primary School, which is fundraising for a new minibus for the school.
The PTA received the donation as part of the developer's Community Fund scheme, which donates £1,000 to a different charity every month.
Chair of Friends of Shaw-cum-Donnington School, Faiza Bailey said: "We are extremely thankful and it's a true bonus that we haven't had to work hard for. We are on a tight budget and try to run everything on as few pennies as possible."
The donation from David Wilson Homes will go towards replacing the current buses to make outdoor learning and school trips more accessible.
She added: "Friends of Shaw-cum-Donnington are the school's PTA, which is basically a small group of parents who give some of their time to raise money and let the kids have fun.
"We raise money through discos, fairs and other events that the children and families attend. This gives the school additional funds for notebook and iPad leases, playground equipment, musical equipment, and helps out with contributions to swimming, pantos and many other activities."
Managing director at David Wilson Homes Southern, Campbell Gregg said: "Friends of Shaw-cum-Donnington Primary School is an incredible charity and its members do a great job helping with the school and organising their own fundraising activities.
"We’re delighted to have the opportunity to contribute towards charities that help the people near our developments through our Community Fund scheme.”
