Newbury shopping centre car park collision closes exit
Thames Valley Police spokeswoman, Lucy Billen, said police were called at 2.35pm to the Market Street exit of the shopping centre, after a new, white Toyota Aygo, driven by a woman, with no passengers, collided with an exit barrier and wall at the West Berkshire Council owned car park.
“There was considerable damage to the car, barrier, wall and machinery, but no injury,” said Ms Billen.
Newbury Fire Station’s White Watch crew were also called to the incident at 2.30pm, according to crew manager, Alex Dallimore, in order to make both the electronic barrier and car safe.
“The lady driver was more shaken up than anything,” said Mr Dallimore.
Firefighters left the scene after half an hour.

The car park remained open after the incident, with the damaged barrier/area area taped off.
