Newbury spa promises experience of Thailand
Buddhist monks invited to attend opening of Orchid Thai Therapy in Bartholomew Street
A THERAPY spa promising customers the experience of Thailand in the middle of Newbury celebrated the opening of its new premises on Sunday.
Orchid Thai Therapy, which has been offering traditional Thai therapies and beauty treatments since 2012, welcomed three Buddhist monks to the business as part of the celebrations to mark the completion of a move to Bartholomew Street.
Founder and owner of the business, Sunaree Isham, of Newbury, explained that the therapy centre had outgrown its previous location in the Kennet Centre due to an increase in demand.
She said she initially began practicing the ancient technique of Thai massage in a small shop above Harris Hair after spotting a gap in the market three years ago, before moving to the Kennet Centre in 2014.
The therapist, who trained in Thai massage at a temple in her home country, said: “The new shop offers the experience of entering Thailand for a short while.
“It’s an escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life – dimmed lights, relaxing Thai music and a lovely cup of lemon grass tea after your therapy.”
The new premises boasts three key therapy rooms offering Thai massage and Thai aromatherapy.
The service also offers Thai reflexology foot massage and soon plans to launch a traditional Thai face treatment too.
