Newbury Speaker's presents community speechcraft award





Each year Newbury Speaker’s Club present the Community Award for Communication and Leadership to local groups and this year the honour went to Sovereign housing association for “their continued commitment to staff training.”
Club spokeswoman Kate Jones said: “NSC is proud to have worked with Sovereign housing to train their staff using their successful Speechraft Communication training courses for over seven years.”
The award was accepted on behalf of Sovereign housing by Andrew Cooch who attended one of the first Speechcraft courses led by the group and has been back to help facilitate on subsequent courses.
Club president Claire Heyes said of the ceremony: “The evening was a celebration of outstanding speakers and competition winners.
“Newbury Speakers Club has a wonderful mix of different speaking abilities which allows for continual development of both speaking and leadership skills and consistently delivers high-quality speeches with coaching from experienced club members.”
Around 30 people attended the event Friday January 16 at the Elcot Park Hotel in Newbury.
