Former members of 211 Newbury Squadron of the Air Training Corps held a 50th anniversary reunion at the RAF Association Club in St Nicholas Road in June 1991. Newbury Squadron was formed in 1941 as part of an RAF initiative to interest young people in flying. It offered scholarships at flying schools, and trained many young people to fly aeroplanes and gliders.

The RAFA hall is now a community hall and arts and music venue called Ace Space.
