Newbury train station disruptions resolved in 'multi-agency response' from emergency teams
Disruptions to the train services at Newbury Station have been resolved in a “multi agency response” from police, ambulance and fire teams.
The emergency services attended an incident on Newbury Racecourse Bridge involving a man who has since been safely removed from the area.
He was safely talked to by a trained professional and has been assisted by police.
Station manager at Newbury Fire Station, Steve Borham said: “We went to assist TVP, a young man that found his way to the edge of the bridge.
“I was with the ambulance and police, we were there for 3 and a half hours.”
He said that the fire crew then left the scene but the police and ambulance stayed with the individual in what Mr Borham called a “multi agency response.”
Newbury Train switched off power to the overhead electric wires and no electric trains ran on the affected route.
National rail announced the incident at around 10.52am today (Sunday).
It said, in social media updates, that the lines were closed due to what were called "tresspassers" at the time.
The closed railway area was then declared clear by National Rail at around 1.30pm.
