Newbury team to skydive for charity today (Sunday)

Emily Haughan who now lives in Norfolk but is from the area will take part in Team May’s jump at Netheravon along with a 13-strong group made up of both Newbury and Norfolk residents.
Emily said: “May is the light of our life, along with siblings Ella and Archie. Her condition basically means she cannot sit up unaided for long periods of time, walk or talk as she could for a child of her age.
“Mentally, May is the same as any other 3 and half year old, she is just trapped in a body that will not do what she wants it to do. This aside, she amazes me every single day with her determination and courage and has achieved many things that at the beginning I thought she never would.”
The money raised will go towards funding an Xtreme X8 electric wheelchair for May so that she can keep up with her friends and siblings to enjoy as normal a life as possible.
Another sky-diver who will be taking part is Kelly Delaney-Howard. She said: “It started off with just me doing the skydive but as I told friends and family and the word about May’s new wheels spread more people signed up to do the skydive.”
Kelly has also organised a car boot sale in Hungerford in association with the town’s football club to raise money for the charity and following the dive plans to raise yet more money with a charity car wash at the club.
So far, the group have raised nearly £10,000 and the final target to get May a new set of wheels stands at £15,000.
