Newbury teenager relives terrifying street attack
Man was robbed at knifepoint and punched in the face during ordeal
A NEWBURY teenager has recounted a terrifying attack during which he was robbed at knifepoint in the town.
The 19-year-old had a vegetable knife held to his throat and was punched in the face several times before three men robbed him of all his personal belongings.
Speaking to the Newbury Weekly News, the man, who asked not to be named, said he was walking to a friend’s house when he noticed that he was being followed by three men.
“I went round the corner and got jumped by them. I got punched in the face and had a knife held to my throat,” he said.
“I just wanted them to go. Half the right side of my face was bruised up.”
The men ran off after robbing the teenager of his bank card, driver’s licence, iPhone 5c and a small amount of cash.
The teenager said the assault had left him and his family worried of a repeat attack.
Heading for the nearest door, the teenager was taken in by a kind stranger and notified his mother of the attack on Facebook.
His mother said that she was shocked and worried when she saw the message, but Newbury’s police had kept her informed throughout the investigation.
She said that her son was a bit shaken when the police brought him home but he was recovering.
The robbery occurred at 9.15pm on Friday, May 20 in Enborne Road at the junction of Buckingham Road.
The assailants are described as three 17- to 18-year-old black males all wearing matching black body warmers, black tracksuit bottoms and Nike trainers.
They had hoods up over their heads and one of them had a tidy thin beard.
