Newbury to hold Shopmobility awareness events
People who need help with shopping, business or leisure activities can pop along for advice on Friday or Saturday
NEWBURY Shopmobility is hosting a two-day awareness event next week as part of a national event.
Newbury Shopmobility is part of a UK network of Shopmobility schemes designed to help the less physically able (permanently or temporarily) to get around town and to go about their business, shopping or leisure activities.
The events on Friday and Saturday (May 13 and 14) will give visitors the chance to find out how easy Shopmobility is to use and how this free daily service brings a great sense of freedom to people.
Newbury Shopmobility is located on the ground floor of the Pembroke Road Multi Story Car Park and its reception will be ready willing and able to give people information advice and tuition on its electric scooters, manual or powered wheelchairs.
The scheme is open from 9.30am to 4pm Monday to Saturday and the service is free on a daily basis. Extended loans can be arranged for a small cost.
Anyone interested in trying the equipment or finding out more about the scheme should telephone (01635) 523854.
Newbury Shopmobility is operated by Volunteer Centre West Berkshire.
