Newbury town centre power cut
Newbury town hall and Cancer Research shop were among affected customers
NEWBURY Town Hall was among buildings in Newbury town centre affected by a power cut this afternoon (Thursday).
Southern Electric spokeswoman, Hannah Gleave, confirmed that around 30 customers in the Market Place and Wharf Street had been affected by the cut, at 12.22pm.
Newbury Town Hall, in the Market Place, lost power to the top floor only.
The Cancer Research Shop, also in the Market Place, was also affected and forced to close during the power cut, but has since re-opened shortly after 1.30pm.
Southern Electric said the cause of the outage was a blown fuse at a Wharf Street sub station, since repaired, with all power restored by 1.30pm.
The company apologised to affected customers for the inconvenience.
