Newbury woman dies in M4 crash

The 38-year-old was killed at about 6am on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 13 (Chieveley) and 12 (Theale).
Police say she had been struck by a vehicle in or around the nearside lane of the motorway while her own car, a grey Mazda Coupe, was parked on the hard shoulder nearby.
The tragic accident led to the motorway being shut for more than four hours.
Sgt Justin Thomas from the Joint Roads Policing Unit, said: “We are particularly interested in a dark-coloured heavy goods vehicles or large vehicles which may have been passing at the time of the collision.
“We are urging any driver who thinks they may have hit something in the carriageway around this time to come forward to assist us in our investigation.”
Anyone with information about these incidents should contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Fire crews have now warned motorists to be extra vigilant when driving at this time of year after the district’s roads were plunged into chaos following serious accidents almost every day this week.
