Newbury woman set to compete for Miss British Isles modelling title
Newbury woman Eleanor Lockhart will be competing nationally for the title of Miss British Isles in Chester on Friday, September 3.
After winning the title of Miss Berkshire 2020 and 2021 in the first lockdown, the 27-year-old will be representing the county when she goes for the national title.
If Miss Lockhart claims the title she will win prizes valued at more than £10,000.
These include a modelling and influencer contract, a trip to Marbella, Spain, with flights and accommodation included and international photoshoots and restaurant meals.
The national final takes place at The Final Furlong Marquee at Chester Racecourse.
The judges look through the huge number of entries that the competition attracts every year and 50 finalists are offered the chance to take part in the Miss British Isles contest.
Miss Lockhart has handmade her own ethereal dress to wear at the pageant.
It is corset styled with a net and has hand embroidery.
Miss Lockhart enjoys sewing and embroidery as well as upcycling vintage items such as furniture and prams.
She gave birth to a baby boy in June and her son will be attending the pageant with her.
He was born four weeks prematurely and Miss Lockhart has spent the last couple of months ensuring her newborn child is happy and healthy.
Her two other children will be staying home in Newbury and supporting her in the pageant from afar.
Miss Lockhart told Newbury Weekly News that it has been challenging raising children while preparing herself, her dress, and her accessories for the competition.
However, she hopes that her resilience, determination and adaptability will inspire her children in the future and show them that anything can be achieved.
She said: “ I’m excited to show off what I’ve been working on for the past several months because it has all been a very exciting process.
"After months of lockdown it will be nice to have an in person event where I can meet new people who have also been working really hard.
"I have my sash ready and the whole event will be very glamorous, like nothing I’ve ever done before.
"I think it will be a very enjoyable experience.”
