Newbury's first ever Food and Drink Festival entertains visitors from across West Berkshire and beyond

A pilot Food and Drink Festival was held in Northbrook Street and Bartholomew Street on Saturday, bringing numerous visitors to the town centre to sample the items on offer.

The event kicked off in the morning, and ran through to 8pm, with various stands - including a prosecco tuk tuk, gourmet donut company and internal pop-ups - plying their delicacies.

Local bands and a DJ entertained crowds from a stage erected especially for the event in Bartholomew Street.

The event was the result of a collaboration between the Newbury Business Improvement District (BID) and LSD Promotions, which runs Newbury's popular Artisan Market.

The festival was intended as a pilot, with the BID hoping to bring it back as a regular, multi-day event over the coming years.

A spokesperson for the BID said: "We're delighted to receive such amazing feedback from town centre visitors, residents and traders for our Food and Drink Festival on Saturday.

"There was a real atmosphere across the whole of town, and it was a delight to see so many people enjoy the live music and stalls down Bartholomew Street!

"We're already looking forward to hosting more events down Bartholomew Street and in the town centre in the future."
