Newbury's telephone exchange flooded




Firefighters bale out basement for 4 hours

FIREFIGHTERS baled out Newbury's telephone exchange for four hours during the early hours of this morning (Sunday).

One pump was called from Newbury Fire Station at 1am to the telephone exchange, situated next to Newbury's sorting office. opposite the junction with Wharf Road.

Firefighters discovered the basement five to six inches under water.

Five firefighters used portable pumps to remove the water.

Firefighters left the scene at around 5am.
