Treat the car to a spring clean and help Newbury firefighters raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity and Prior’s Court on Saturday.
The Fire Fighters Charity provides a range of services for fire service personnel and their families, including therapy and rehabilitation for injured crew. Priors Court, in Hermitage, provides specialist services for young people with autism, learning difficulties and complex needs.
The organiser, Richie Cooper from the station’s Green Watch, said: “The Fire Fighters Charity offers fantastic services for everyone who works for the fire and rescue service and their loved ones, so we wanted to show our appreciation by giving something back to them.
“We also decided to support Prior’s Court because it is a local organisation that does amazing work to support young people with autism. A few of us will also be taking part in a Newbury to Paris cycle ride in June, hoping to raise even more money for both the charities.
“If you’re passing the fire station on Saturday, please pop in and help us raise as much money as possible for these two very deserving causes. As well as getting your car washed, you can also chat to us about how to keep yourself safe from fire in the home, so it’s well worth stopping by.”
The firefighters will be washing cars – and bringing a gleam to other vehicles – at the Hawthorn Road fire station in Newbury from 10am to 4pm.
The suggested minimum donation is £5 per car. Firefighters at other local stations, including Dee Road, Tilehurst, are also holding charity car washes on Saturday.
