A Liberal Democrat sign was torched in Newbury this morning (Thursday), in a suspected arson.

One fire engine from Newbury Fire Station was called at 6am to the blazing sign at a Speen property backing onto Goldwell Park

The blaze also set fire to an adjacent fence panel.

Firefighters extinguished the fire with a hosereel and left the scene after 20 minutes.

    I put this sign up myself, with the permission of the landowner, and feel very sorry that it has provoked this outrageous vandalism and caused such inconvenience. It's almost certainly nothing to do with any political party, since in my experience most people who actively engage with politics tend to have pro-social tendencies (although in the case of Tories they are just wrong headed). More likely the work of lazy minded hooligans who will not even bother to vote.
