Thatched roof caves in

A house in Baughurst was substantially damaged in a fire last night.

Firefighters from Hampshire and Newbury were called to tackle the thatched roof blaze at a property in Haughurst Hill at 9pm last night.

Crew manager at Newbury Fire Station, Alex Dallimore, said that the fire had caused substantial damage to the property, with most of the roof having caved in.

Mr Dallimore added that no one was hurt.

He said that the cause of the fire was under investigation.
