Newbury motorists set for delays

LANE closures will be in place on the A339 in Newbury for two weeks from today as work on the busy dual carriageway continues.

West Berkshire Council has announced the closures on northbound carriageway between the Robin Hood roundabout and Sainsbury’s between 9:30am and 3pm until October 5.

The lane closures will allow for the installation of traffic signal ducts across the width of the road and for carriageway re-surfacing works.

West Berkshire Council say they are entering into the final stage of Phase 1 of the A339 works which began in February 2016.

Work to demolish buildings on the London Road Industrial Estate is also ongoing ahead of the construction of a new access road from the A339 onto Fleming Road.

If newbury councilors had their way they would close every road in Newbury and i ain't kidding they just have know clue tell me a week that has gone by when a road has not been closed in this town its like Groundhog Day only worse ,but then again people do not look at alternative transport ie their legs a bike or the bus ,and stop using excuses ,unfortunately thats why we have an obesity problem in this town,if you think otherwise wake up and visit specsavers

Amazing! It seems that any road works in West Berkshire involve a total road closure for two weeks, and who will bet that two + 3? It's about time that the Council employs proper professionals to correctly monitor all road works.
