Rockers turn out for charity gig in Newbury

More than 100 people rocked the night away at a charity fundraiser in Newbury last Friday.

Rock with Reason, at New Greenham Arts, was held in aid of Friends of PICU, which offers support to critically-ill children across the South of England who have been cared for on paediatric intensive care units (PICUs).

Newbury resident Jade Sim organised the event after her nephew Eliot suffered a brain haemorrhage at just four days old and underwent emergency treatment at the PICU at Southampton Hospital.

The gig featured live music from four bands – The Mini Band, Jersey Bones, Fabrics and Juliette – as well as a raffle and charity auction.

Mrs Sim said: “The night went brilliantly, everyone had a great night and we raised lots of money.

“I believe we are on course for raising just over £5,000.”

The concert formed part of a wider fundraising drive from Mrs Sim’s brother, Newbury musician Jordan Fish, in an effort to raise £100,000 for the charity who helped his newborn son.
