Next phase of racecourse development to be exhibited tomorrow (Fri)
This will be the final residential scheme to be built on the site, which will run from the Nuffield Health centre to the eastern border of the site, and is set to include around 700 apartments and family homes, 30 per cent of which will be affordable.
The draft plans include a nine-storey apartment block, however details such as the number of bedrooms properties will have are yet to be confirmed.
A retail community centre and bus route are also expected to be incorporated into the site.
Following the exhibition, at which visitors will have a chance to submit feedback on the scheme, detailed plans will be drawn up, with a formal planning application expected to be submitted to West Berkshire Council’s planning department this summer.
The exhibition will be open from 2pm to 8pm in the racecourse’s on-site Crafty Filly pub., at which developers behind will be on hand to answer questions.
Outline planning permission for the whole scheme was granted in 2010 and construction began on the western area development in October 2012, which has provided 127 affordable homes for the area, in addition to 294 private dwellings which are nearing completion.
Updates on the status of the western area development will also be available at the exhibition.
Anyone who is unable to attend can request a paper copy of the exhibition and a feedback form by calling (01488) 680300, and it will also be available to view online at www.newbury-racecourse.co.uk
