Ninety-six employees made redundant after Thatcham firm goes into administration

DBC (formerly know as Danish Bacon Company), which has an outlet at Aylesford Way, off Pipers Way, went into administration last week.
Only five out of the 101 employees at the Thatcham branch have managed to keep their jobs.
Baker Tilly has taken over as the administrator after the firm failed to find a buyer to take on the business, when it was put on the market last week.
Russell Cash, from Baker Tilly, told Newburytoday.co.uk today (Thurs): “DBC is a very well established business which has enjoyed a great reputation over a prolonged period. It is obviously very disappointing to see the company enter into administration.
“We are in discussions with a number of interested parties, some of which are at an advanced stage.
“We are hopeful that we will be able to secure a future for certain areas of the business”
District and town councillor for Thatcham South and Crookham, Dominic Boeck (Con) said that the administrators had been looking to find buyers for several parts of the business, but unfortunately this did not include the Thatcham depot.
He said: “It’s really bad news for the 96 people who have been made redundant.
“My heart goes out to them.
“I’m really disappointed that it’s Thatcham that’s had to pay the price.
“The demise is not a reflection on the local economy – we are doing really well in West Berkshire.”
DBC opened in Thatcham in 2006 and at the time, created 100 jobs.
