Ninth firefighter strike during morning rush hour today (Fri)

Between 6.30am to 8.30am, members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU), a number of whom are employed by the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS), will not attend any emergencies.
During this time, emergency crews, which underwent crash-course training in September, will be called in to assist non-striking firefighters in any incidents.
The RBFRS has urged people to take extra care between these times, particularly when travelling in the morning rush hour, as the service is running with decreased numers and will be prioritising incidents accordingly.
This is the ninth strike to be staged by firefighters since September.
Most recently, FBU members withdrew their service on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.
All firefighters, except those working in control centres, also refused voluntary overtime between 7pm on December 27 and 7pm on December 29 after a second ballot of FBU members voted by almost nine to one for additional industrial action on top of strikes.
