No Motor Vehicles restriction to be trialled along Lawrences Lane




An Experimental Traffic Regulation Order is to be placed on a Thatcham Road.

The ‘No Motor Vehicles’ restriction along Lawrences Lane is in order to encourage active travel.

West Berkshire Council notified Thatcham Town Council of its plans in a letter which was circulated in a planning and highways meeting held on April 26.

Physical measures will be in place which will most likely comprise of “rigid and removable reflective bollards”, spaced out for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians.

It aims to come into force by the end of June, but is subject to change.

Once the restriction is in force, a six month public consultation is to begin with a further 12 months for authorities to decide whether to drop, amend or make the restriction permanent.
