No objections to latest racecourse plans
Newbury town councillors raised no objections to planned changes at the golf course at Newbury Racecourse
MEMBERS of Newbury Town Council have raised no objections to the redevelopment of another section of the Newbury Racecourse plans - the area which includes the golf course.
The plans for the golf course include a new club house, a floodlit driving range and parking, and a substantial redevelopment of the course itself also planned.
The application also includes an estate yard and apartment.
At a town council planning meeting on Monday evening, David Allen (Lib Dem, Victoria), raised concerns about the flood lighting and the hours of operation.
Claire Spencer from Newbury Racecourse said that there had been no changes to the original plans and that the plan was that the golf course hours would operate as it did today.
She added that a small number of homes in the area would be affected by the floodlighting but that there would be no increase in the lighting at the golf course than there was currently.
Mr Allen added that as permission was already granted for the racecourse development and this application was purely for the appearance, landscaping and scale, then no objections should be raised.
The remodelling of the golf course forms part of larger plans to construct 1,500 new homes and a hotel on the racecourse.
