Premier Inn plans for nine homes in Pinchington Lane see 32 objections

The right to a view is not a material planning consideration. That’s the stark reality council planners have laid out to 32 objectors to nine houses likely to be built in front of them at the Premier Inn site in Pinchington Lane.

In fact, council planning officers say the proposed development of houses would themselves introduce a greater noise barrier than trees and vegetation, particularly in the wintertime when that vegetation is not in leaf. That was in response to concerns over loss of vegetation.

The vehicle movements associated with the new development, and the changes to the car parking layout for the hotel, are not considered to introduce any significant impact on neighbouring amenity in terms of noise or air pollution either.

A previous attempt to get permission for the homes failed - with the planning inspector in the subsequent appeal agreeing that there wasn’t enough parking.

This application - which goes before this week’s western area planning committee tomorrow (Wednesday) - has 23 parking spaces are proposed, two for each dwelling and five visitor spaces.

Officers say it is important to note that the Inspector in their consideration of the appeal did not raise any concerns in respect of the impact on neighbouring amenity from the development proposed.

Other objections include a lack of space for bin collection, so bins would have to be placed on Deadman’s Lane for collection, obstructing the highway. Congestion on the single track lane would cause accidents and obstructions including to emergency vehicles, objectors added.
