Nominate an exceptional West Berkshire learner or teacher for an award
West Berkshire Council is seeking nominations for the tenth annual West Berkshire Learner Achievement Awards 2012.
The awards celebrate the achievements of exceptional adult learners, teachers and organisations who have achieved success in training and education over the past 12 months.
Irene Neill (Con Aldermaston), West Berkshire's executive councillor for education, said learning as an adult deserved special recognition, adding: “It takes commitment, courage and a great deal of organisation to be able to complete a course of study while working, looking after a family or dealing with every day challenges."
The awards are aimed at people aged over 19 years who live, work or study in West Berkshire. They cover a range of categories from professional courses to apprenticeships, key skills, academic qualifications, community development and leisure provision, with a special award for learners over the age of 75.
Winners will receive a certificate and cash and be invited to a ceremony at Shaw House on Friday, May 11.
For more information, or to download a nomination form, visit www.westberks.gov.uk/learnerawards2012 or telephone (01635) 519060.
The final date for nominations is Friday, March 30.
