A CAMPAIGN to find the UK's rural community champions has been launched.

Run by national farming support firm Agrii and the Farming Community Network charity, the Rural Community Champion campaign celebrates those who make significant and selfless contributions to the areas in which they live and work.

Among those in the running for an award is Newbury agronomist Craig Livingstone and farmer Geoff Hopkins, who volunteer their time to educate secondary school children on farming practice.

The pair work with pupils both in the classroom and field to help them complete work in their chosen areas of study.

Anyone who makes a difference can be nominated, from fundraisers or those caring for elderly neighbours, to those who organise and support community events and projects.

One national winner will receive £1,000, with two runner-up prizes of £500, and 20 nominees will win £50.
