Nominations open for 'rural Oscars'

Residents encouraged to put forward West Berkshire businesses

NEWBURY MP Richard Benyon is urging people to nominate West Berkshire businesses for a ‘Rural Oscar’ in the annual Countryside Alliance Awards, which celebrate and promote rural businesses.

There are four categories – local food award, village shop/post office award, farm enterprise award and the rural tourism enterprise award.

Mr Benyon said: “Vicars Game in Ashampstead was a worthy finalist from this area in the past and it would be great to see more winners from West Berkshire.

“I would encourage everyone to go online at www.countryside-alliance.org and nominate someone today.”

Nominations close on Friday next week.
