North Hampshire WI's centenary baton ride through villages in vintage fire engine
The fire engine (pictured) is set to leave Kingsclere at 9.30am, before collecting the baton from Northbrook Hall, Micheldever, then travelling on to the Highclere Castle estate, where it will be greeted by the Countess of Carnarvon.
Lady Carnarvon will meet the presidents of three WI’s – Burghclere and Newtown, Kingsclere and Headley Woodlands and East Woodhay.
The party will then motor on to Burghclere, driving through the village to the Portal Hall, where some 60 WI members will gather for lunch.
After lunch, the baton, which is in the charge of the Hampshire Federation of the WI during January, will be handed over to a group from Andover, to continue its journey.
