The Changing Face of Newbury: Part Three

CAN you guess in what decade this picture of Marchant's Garage in Newbury was taken?

This is just one of more than 100 fascinating photographs contained in a new book called The Changing Face of Newbury, written by local author and historian Tony Higgott.

Newburytoday will feature one nostalgic picture from the book each day for the next eight days – each with a question for you to answer. The answer to today's poser will be revealed on Newburytoday tomorrow.

The answer to yesterday's question about Lloyds Bank in Newbury was the 1970s.

Mr Higgott will be taking part in a signing session today (Saturday) in WH Smith in Northbrook Street, Newbury, between 10am and noon.

The Changing Face of Newbury is available, priced £9.95, from the publisher Countryside Books’ website at www.countrysidebooks.co.uk
