Nostalgic jubilee for the Rowbarge in Woolhampton

The catch is that customers will have to pay in pre-decimal currency, just like 1952.
Landlord, Stephen Butt, said: “As part of our jubilee celebrations we thought it would be fun to re-create conditions of 1952, so we’re issuing customers with ration books which they can download from our website, which entitles them to a pint or a glass of wine at 1952 prices each day of the weekend.
“The catch is, they’ll have to pay for the drink in old money too, so I imagine there’ll be a bit of rooting around in attics over the next few days.
“If people can’t find any old currency, it’s not the end of the world as they can still use the ration book to claim a drink for half-price.”
The pub is also serving a selection of nostalgic dishes and raising money for Naomi House Hospice by holding garden games from the period, including Pin the Tail on the Donkey, Hula Hoops and Bobbing for Apples.
