The extension to the unit for pupils with physical disabilities is due to open in July, and will provide places for children from around West Berkshire, as well as further afield.
New facilities will include a classroom, two smaller group rooms, an office, and a recreational deaf-friendly area.
The head of the hearing impaired resource centre at the Stoney Lane School, Jill Whitehouse, said: “Kennet is a fantastic environment for deaf children.
“Our pupils thrive here and grow rapidly in confidence.
"Our new building will allow more deaf children to benefit and to go from strength to strength.”
