Nuffield Health back open for business

A spokeswoman for Southern Gas Networks, Chloe Boyce said the damage was caused when a temporary structure was erected close to the main arena.
She said: “They were putting up some sort of temporary pavilion and when they spiked it through the ground it went through our gas main.”
However, the racecourse have claimed the damage didn’t occur until the structures were being removed.
The incident was reported shortly after 2pm on Monday and Mrs Boyce said engineers were on site within 40 minutes.
As a result Nuffield Health, located on the racecourse grounds, was left without gas and was forced to close while repairs were carried out.
A spokesperson for the Racecourse Newbury, Nicky Hares, said Nuffield Health was “operational” from 5.30pm on Tuesday and opened to the public as usual on Wednesday.
