The 32-year-old, of Mabel Luke Place, off Mill Lane in Newbury, initially denied sending a death threat in Newbury on Tuesday, April 1.

He likewise pleaded not guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards Melinda Sheldon on the same occasion.

However, he subsequently changed his pleas and admitted both offences.

Wallin, who has previous convictions, admitted a third charge – that of assaulting Muhammed Hussain in Newbury on March 14.

Magistrates adjourned for pre-sentence reports.

They stipulated these should be prepared on an ‘all options’ basis, including custody.

Wallin was also warned that the court reserved the right to send him to be sentenced by a judge sitting at Reading Crown Court should magistrates consider, after reading the reports, that their own powers of punishment were insufficient.

They meanwhile refused him bail and remanded Wallin in custody.

Bail was refused because of the nature and seriousness of the offending, Wallin’s previous record and character and the fact that the offences were committed in breach of a community order.
