Ofsted inspctors heap praise on Kintbury St Mary Primary School

A VILLAGE primary school is celebrating after retaining its ‘good’ rating from education watchdog Ofsted.

Inspectors said, following a recent visit to Kintbury St Mary’s primary School: “Pupils really enjoy being at this happy school.

“Leaders have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour around the school...pupils rise to this.

“The very positive behaviour of pupils is a strength of the school.”

Heaping further praise, the inspectors added: “The school’s new leadership team has rapidly improved the school.

“This includes developing both the school’s curriculum and the ways in which pupils are taught.

“Teachers value the changes that have been made, saying that they ‘are blessed’ to work at the school.

“They describe feeling supported, knowing leaders consider both their professional development and their welfare.

“School staff understand the school’s central place in the community.”

The school was last inspected four years ago, when it also achieved a ‘good’ rating.

School governor Jenny Veasey said: “As governors, we are proud of our village school.

“We know that our 28 Year 6 leavers will move on to their various secondary schools with confidence, optimism, enthusiasm, many happy memories and all our good wishes for the future.”
