Ofsted rating delights Trinity School head

It has maintained the status it achieved since its last inspection in 2011 and marks a continued improvement at the school five years after it was placed on the Government's National Challenge list.
The good status was received in all categories - the behaviour and safety of pupils, leadership and management, the quality of teaching and the achievement of pupils - in the inspection in January.
A team of Ofsted inspectors awarded the judgement after observing parts of 42 lessons and following discussions with students, senior staff members, the governing board and the school’s improvement consultant.
Documentation, including that which details student progress, improvement plans, behaviour and attendance logs and staff performance was also assessed.
The report said: “Students make rapid progress in sciences and humanities; in modern foreign languages their progress is slightly above average.
“Teaching is good and is leading to rising levels of student achievement. Outstanding lessons were seen in a range of subjects, including English and mathematics.
“Teachers show good subject knowledge, have high expectations and show enthusiasm for their subjects.
“The headteacher, school leaders and the governing body are committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to do as well as possible.”
According to inspectors, it was not rated outstanding because there was not enough outstanding teaching to enable students to make the best possible progress, its support for disabled pupils and those with special educational needed to be better co-ordinated and the sixth form required improvement.
The Trinity headteacher Charlotte Wilson said she was delighted with the result.
She first became involved with the school as associate headteacher, alongside Kennet head Paul Dick, after the school failed to reach Government ‘floor targets’ of 30 per cent of pupils achieving grades A* to C in at least five subjects, including mathematics and English for GCSE, in 2008.
Last week, Mrs Wilson said: “I am incredibly proud of our staff and students for all their hard work, not just during the inspection but all the time, in order to make the school a great place to be.
“The school is always striving to be the very best; we will continue with our hard work and efforts to ensure that the students at Trinity get the very best that they deserve.”
