Old A34/B4640 to close from tonight (Fri) for roadworks

West Berkshire Council has confirmed that the old A34/B4640 Newtown straight will be closed from 7pm tonight (Fri), until 6am on Monday, May 12.
A signed diversion will be in place for users of the road – an access route from Newbury onto the A34, to Winchester and Southampton.
The adjacent A339/Swan roundabout will also be affected by roadworks from tonight, with temporary traffic lights in place from 7pm and overnight.
The south section of the roundabout is to be resurfaced on Saturday May 10, from 7am, with work likely to be completed by mid afternoon.
The traffic lights will be left in place overnight to allow time for the material to cure.
The traffic lights will then be reversed on Sunday May 11, for the north section of the roundabout to be resurfaced, from 7am. The lights will again be left on overnight, to allow time for the material to cure.
The A339 should be fully re-open by 6am on Monday, May 12.
