Olympian to speak at free taster event on Friday

The Team GB rower helped his team win a silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics and will use his experiences to encourage West Berkshire residents to keep fit and get active.
A range of free taster activities from indoor canoeing, Zumba-style dancing and gym sessions will be on offer at the event, being held at The Willink Leisure Centre in Burghfield Common, while information on clubs and activities in the area will also be available.
The executive portfolio holder for arts and leisure at West Berkshire Council, Hialry Cole (Con, Chieveley) said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for people to come along and try a new activity free of charge.
“Having an Olympic athlete at the event will hopefully inspire people to get active and choose a healthier lifestyle."
A free buffet will be available for those taking part.
Funded by NHS Berkshire through Get Berkshire Active, it is one of six leisure activities to be held across the district.
Anyone wishing to take part should book in advance by emailing madelaine.obrien@getberkshireactive.org or by telephoning: 01628 473031.
