All lanes of the M4 reopen after a serious crash between junction 14 at Hungerford and junction 15 at Swindon




UPDATE: All lanes of the motorway have now reopened and traffic is flowing freely.

UPDATE, 1pm: Two lanes have now reopened on the M4 after an earlier serious crash.

National Highways has confirmed that just one lane remains closed while the vehicles are recovered.

There are still long delays on the motorway, with around two miles of congestions leading up to junction 14.

The surrounding roads and the eastbound carriageway are also experiencing heavy traffic.

One lane of the M4 has now reopened after a serious crash this morning.

The westbound carriageway, between junction 14 at Hungerford and junction 15 at Swindon, was closed after a serious crash between a coach and an HGV, Thames Valley Police roads policing unit has confirmed.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 4.25am and the westbound carriageway had been shut since then.

Police said the other two lanes of the motorway will reopen once the vehicles have been recovered.

A diversion was in place while the carriageway was closed, leading to heavy congestion on all routes through Hungerford, Aldbourne and Marlborough as traffic tried to avoid the closure.

The eastbound carriageway of the M4, between junctions 15 and 14, as well as the westbound carriageway between junction 13 at Chieveley and Hungerford are still also experiencing long delays.
