Oops! Another lorry gets stuck beneath Hungerford rail bridge

'It sounded like thunder'

OH no, not again!

This lorry got stuck fast at Hungerford's High Street railway bridge around 12pm today (Wednesday).

It is the latest in a series of bridge strikes at the site, which cause delays to trains while engineers check for damage to the structure.

Martin Bakker of High Street floral designers Martin and the Magpie, said at 12.20pm: "It sounded like thunder when he got stuck - and he's currently still stuck."

All lines are currently closed as a result and disruption to train services is expected to last until at least 2pm.

A spokesman for Great Western Railway, James Davis, said: "Network Rail are responsible for the infrastructure and they will be assessing the damage, if any, to the bridge.

"Until, there will be no services running."

The incident is the latest in a series of strikes at the bridge in recent years.
