Open morning on new volunteering project for those with mental illness
In February, the Volunteer Centre West Berkshire is launching the VCme scheme, a programme designed to help those with medium to long-term mental health disorders to volunteer within their communities.
Under the scheme, volunteers will embark on their first round of duties with someone from the volunteer centre, who will offer support, advice and help to build self-confidence.
And on Saturday, January 31, at 10.30am, anyone interested in being involved as a volunteer mentor can attend an informal meeting to find out more about the scheme over coffee and cake in the centre’s main Newbury office, in Bolton Place.
Information on the project as a whole, what the role will entail and what training will be provided will be available at the meeting.
Anyone interested in attending is asked to contact project co-ordinator Jacqui Letsome in advance by calling (01635) 49004 or emailing Jacqui@vcwb.org.uk
