Green Party councillor and Tory councillor put in charge of scrutiny of Lib Dem-led West Berkshire Council

West Berkshire Council's own internal watchdog committee will be chaired and vice chaired by opposition councillors, marking a distinct change in leadership style from the previous administration.

The Green Party's Carolyne Culver (Green, Ridgeway) will lead the overview and scrutiny committee which picks over council proceedings and decisions.

The committee vice-chair will be Conservative deputy leader Dominic Boeck (Con, Aldermaston).

The appointments echo the new Lib Dem leader Lee Dillon's pledge to keep party politics on the benches and drive the council to improving the services and standards of the district.

The previous Conservative-run administraton had appointed members of its own party into the scrutiny roles.
