Newbury Weekly News Over 80s parcel fund sports quiz raises over £1,000

More than £1,000 was raised at The Bowlers Arms as teams from all over West Berkshire got their head in the game for a sports quiz.

The teams all tested their brain cells in aid of the Newbury Weekly News Over 80s Parcel Fund on Thursday night (November 18).

After nearly two hours of competing, answering the challenging questions set by quizmaster Nic Robbins, from the 2019 winning team.

This year the winning team was 'We’re the beer men' who won by half-a-point.

Parcel Fund co-ordinator Jo Fulker said: "Our thanks go to Nic Robbins for writing the questions and also Richard Hayman and the staff from The Bowlers Arms for hosting the quiz night again, which this year in total together with the match-funding from Greenham Trust has raised a total of £1,096."
